My Amusing Life

Yesterday Mason had yet another lesson on listening to prevent a catastrophe. The first time was last month at the community swimming pool. Stephen told him to stop flipping off the edge of the pool. His next flip ended with a trip to the emergency room, as he hit his head on the side of the pool. Last night Stephen asked him to stop splashing in the bath tub. I was downstairs putting Everett to bed when the smoke alarms went off. I ran to the kitchen to check the candles and then up stairs. Luckily there was not a fire but what I found up stairs was pretty bad. Mason flooded the entire bathroom and the hallway. First I had to stop the alarms. When pressing hush did not work I twisted the unit to disconnect it. A small amount of water poured out of the hole. So here is the damage report. The water that flooded upstairs went down the wall making a puddle in the downstairs hallway and flooding the downstairs bathroom. Water also rained down from the front entry smoke detector making a puddle on the floor. Upstairs I mopped up what I could with a dozen towels. I had to pull up the carpet, remove the padding then use a fan to help dry out the wood and carpet.

On to less exhausting things. Everett is proving to be more boy everyday. Yesterday I found him asleep on the floor of the loft diaperless. He also has started this thing when he sees someone bend over he points to their behind and says "ooo poo poo".

Adelin on the other hand played mother while we were babysitting a friends daughter. She was a great babysitter.

Today so far has been much better but still interesting as always. I took the kids to play in the tubes. Everett had to go poo poo and decided he wanted to use the toilet. He did not go but it was a nice intro into using the potty. Unfortunately when I took his diaper off I tore one of the tabs. I did not have any extra diapers on hand either. Needless to say when he did go the bathroom it was a mess. I cleaned him up and let him play a little while longer diaperless.

Before we left we grabbed soft serve ice cream cones. The first two were enormous. I had to tell the lady to go easy. I gave the bigger ones to Mason and Adelin because they always whine for more. Tonight was the first time Adelin could not finish hers and Mason complained that he has had enough ice cream.

Earlier in the day Mason and Adelin were watching films on the TV. A fight ensued over who would control the XBOX controller. Adelin got upset when it was her turn to pick a flick and Mason would not give her the controller. Yet after her show ended she pulled the same stunt on Mason fortunately he was not as touchy as she was.

Those are the musing from the last two days.
